What is the Remote Dial feature?

Remote Dial is in beta and not available to everyone. If you would like to use Remote Dial please Submit A Ticket and a member of our staff will be happy to assist you.

Remote Dial is for customers who are out of the office and would like to place outbound calls from their smartphone while displaying a different CallerID (such as the main company phone number or office number).

How does Remote Dial work?

The following steps explain how Remote Dial works.

  • Helix Telecom customer launches a soft-phone on their smart-phone.
  • The customer enters ** + followed by the 10 digit number they would like to call + SEND. For example.. **7175551212.
  • Helix Telecom's system will disconnect the call.
  • Within a few seconds Helix Telecom will call back your mobile phone number.
  • You will answer the call.
  • Helix Telecom's system will now complete the call. The person you call will not receive your mobile phone's CallerID. They will receive the CallerID you configured for your soft-phone extension.

How do I configure my mobile phone number to work with Remote Dial?

You must tell Helix Telecom's system what phone number to call back after receiving the request from your soft-phone. Follow these instructions to save your mobile number in the Helix Telecom system.

  • Launch the soft-phone from your smartphone.
  • Dial **738 + your 10 digit mobile phone number + SEND.
  • You will hear a confirmation when your phone number has been successfully added.

How do I configure what CallerID number appears on my outbound call?

Follow these instructions to set your CallerID for outbound calls in the Helix Telecom system.

  • Launch the soft-phone from your smartphone.
  • Dial **243 + the 10 digit phone number you would like to set as the CallerID for outbound calls + SEND
  • You will hear a confirmation when your phone number has been successfully added.

How do I make an outbound call using Remote Dial?

Follow these instructions to complete an Outbound Call using Remote Dial.

  • Launch the soft-phone from your smartphone.
  • Dial ** + the 10 digit phone number you would like to dial + SEND.
  • You will hear a brief confirmation and your call will be disconnected.
  • If you have mobile phone service then your phone should ring within a 15 seconds.
  • Answer the call.
  • You will hear a brief pause followed the ringing tone indicating Helix Telecom is completing your call.
  • When the call is received by the third party it will display the CallerID you specified in the previous step.
