What is the difference between a SIP Trunk and Cloud PBX?
Helix Telecom offers 2 types of accounts. The types of accounts are Cloud PBX and SIP Trunk.
- The Cloud PBX account is required to activate and maintain a SIP Trunk account. The Cloud PBX is for activating phone numbers and routing incoming calls. Customers may also configure their own dialer or PBX to accept incoming calls from the Cloud PBX and route those calls to individual extensions attached to a dialer or PBX. The Cloud PBX is billed per line and per phone number for incoming calls. Customers who configure individual extensions on their softphones may also use the CloudPBX for outbound calling.
- The SIP Trunk is for customers making a large volume of outbound calls for use with a dialer or corporate PBX solution.
Helix Telecom does require customers who activate a SIP Trunk to also activate a Cloud PBX account. The Cloud PBX credentials are for incoming/origination calls only. Customers who use the Cloud PBX credentials for outbound calling from a dialer or PBX will be restricted or terminated without notice.
