What is Dynamic Caller ID?
Dynamic Caller ID allows customers to automatically display a Caller ID based on geographic proximity to the number dialed.
If a customer chooses to display a Caller ID based on geographic proximity to the number dialed then Helix Telecom will complete the following steps in order until a suitable Caller ID is found.
- Search all available phone numbers on the customer's account to find a Caller ID using the same area code. If more than one Caller ID on the customer's account is in the same area code then one Caller ID number in the same area code will be selected at random.
- If the number dialed is found to be in a major metropolitan area then search all phone numbers on the customer's account for a Caller ID in the same metropolitan area. If more than one Caller ID on the customer's account is in the same metropolitan area then one Caller ID number from the same metropolitan area will be selected at random.
- Search all available phone numbers on the customer's account to find a Caller ID in the same state as the number dialed. If more than one Caller ID on the customer's account is in the same state then one Caller ID number in the same state will be selected at random.
If no valid phone number is found during this process then a default phone number is selected.
All incoming calls to a phone number tagged as a Dynamic Caller ID on outbound calls will be routed to the same destination.
