Does Helix Telecom store my personal information? How is it used?

This information is accurate as of April 2, 2017.

Helix Telecom collects and stores the following information about customers. Helix Telecom does not share information with third parties except for Billing and internal Support functions. Helix Telecom will not share or sell any customer information for sales and marketing purposes except customer testimonials or anonymous customer feedback surveys.

Sales Data

All information provided during the sales process including name, billing address, shipping address, phone numbers, IP addresses and transaction data may be stored for a period up to 6 years.

Sales Data is used to facilitate the exchange of equipment or services for payment and may be shared with third party financial and lead management companies for this purpose only. Sales Data is not leased, sold or shared with third parties for Marketing purposes.

Billing Data

All billing information collected by Helix Telecom is stored for a period of 7 years. This information is destroyed after an account is closed with no outstanding balance.

Support Data

All support tickets are archived for a period up to 7 years.

IP Address

Helix Telecom collects the IP address of registered equipment. This information is only used to assist in provisioning phones and troubleshooting connectivity issues. This information is stored for less than 180 days.

Phone MAC Address

Helix Telecom collections the MAC address of registered equipment. This information is only used to assist in provisioning phones and troubleshooting connectivity. This information is stored until 90 days after an account is terminated.

Email Address

Helix Telecom collects and stores customer email addresses for communication with customers and to validate a customer's identity when requesting service, support or account changes. This information is retained for 90 days after a customer's account has been terminated.

Company Name

Helix Telecom requests a company name for account tracking purposes only. Customers are welcome to provide fraudulent or fictitious company names. This information is stored for a period of 90 days after a customer's account has been terminated.

Voice Call Logs

Helix Telecom may store call logs and related data for a period of 5 years.

Fax Call Logs

Helix Telecom may store fax data including call logs and images for a period of 5 years.

Call Recordings

Helix Telecom may store call recordings for a period of 180 days. Helix Telecom customers must provide written permission to enable call recording. Please see the Helix Telecom Terms of Service for more information.

Physical Address

The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) requires Helix Telecom to offer emergency 911 service to all customers. This process requires Helix Telecom to collect a physical address of our customer's phones and matching Helix Telecom phone number. Helix Telecom customers may opt out of this service. Helix Telecom customers are not required to provide physical address information for Helix Telecom service. This information, if provided, will be stored for a period of 90 days after a customer's account has been terminated. This information may also be removed and E911 service disabled upon a customer's written request.

Helix Telecom issued Phone Numbers

This information is used to facilitate the connection of calls between Helix Telecom equipment and the public switched telephone number. Aggregated total number of DIDs is used for billing purposes only. This information is stored for a period of 90 days after a customer's account has been terminated.

Customer Identification

Helix Telecom stores customer identification for a period of 3 years. In the event a customer violates the Helix Telecom Terms of Service customer identification may be shared with law enforcement, credit bureaus, legal council, debt collection firms retained by Helix Telecom to collect any outstanding debts and the courts. In most cases this information is destroyed when an account is closed.

Exemptions to this Policy

Customers who violate our Terms of Service are exempt from our privacy policy as per the Helix Telecom Terms of Service found online at https://tos.helixtelecom.com. Please contact us if you have any questions about this exemption.
